Fixtures, tables and fair bye weeks explained

Private Rivals leagues turn one weekly priority list into head-to-head fixtures against friends. Each league has its own opponents, allocation, results and table. Your ranking and Power Up stay consistent, while the exclusive five awarded in each matchup can differ because every rival submits a different order.

01

New leagues can start after Gameweek 1

A league is not permanently blocked because the season has already started. When a new league is created after an earlier deadline, its joining window runs until the first deadline of its next available Gameweek. That lets new groups discover Rivals and begin without rewriting completed weeks.

The cutoff belongs to that league's opening round. Once its first applicable deadline passes, membership locks so the fixture plan, opponents and bye distribution remain stable for the competition that follows.

02

One weekly ranking, matchup-specific teams

You do not build a separate priority list for every league. The same ten-player order and Power Up feed each applicable matchup, but the allocator resolves it against that league opponent. Different rivals can therefore produce different awarded fives from the same ranking.

Dashboard and Battle Headquarters provide league switches when more than one fixture exists. The opponent, awarded team and score change with the selected league, while the private ranking you submitted remains the same everywhere.

03

How the round-robin schedule works

League members are paired through a repeatable round-robin schedule. An even-sized league can pair every manager each round. An odd-sized league necessarily leaves one manager without a head-to-head opponent, which Rivals records as a bye rather than a played fixture.

Future bye plans are distributed across the season so the burden does not repeatedly fall on the same person. If membership changes before the opening lock, the future schedule is refreshed from the applicable round while completed history remains untouched.

04

League points, draws and forfeits

A completed head-to-head win awards 3 league points, a draw awards 1 to each manager and a loss awards 0. The table also records played fixtures, wins, draws, losses, score and recent form so the standings can be understood without opening every result.

If one manager does not submit a team, the submitted opponent can receive a forfeit win once their score is available. If neither manager submits, both receive zero league points. A bye is different from a forfeit and is not recorded as a win or loss.

05

Live, upcoming and completed fixtures

Upcoming fixtures show the planned opponent for future Gameweeks. Live battles use the locked matchup and live football scores. Completed results preserve the final score and full player breakdown, while the league table and form update only after finalisation.

The dashboard offers a cross-league summary, and the Leagues page provides the longer view of scheduled fixtures and completed results. Links from the dashboard take you directly to the relevant section and selected league.
